Peter Manos returns with his first single of 2020 – the moody, languorous “Tennessee.” Manos’ autotune drifts over ominously swelling Prophet synth as he ponders a period of flux wherein friendships evaporated unexpectedly, love came and went unpredictably, and what defines “home” became uncertain. Despite being intensely private, Manos is extremely good at introductions. When he shared his first song in 2017 – “In My Head,” that heartrending slab of eerie soul recorded in a dorm room at Nashville’s Belmont University – he turned ears and stoked fascination: Who was this master of catharsis and vibe, always obscuring his face in photos? Hailing “In My Head” as a “Song You Need to Know,” Rolling Stone observed, “In a world largely ruled by speedy trap tempos, ‘In My Head’ proves that ballads can still surprise.” Ones To Watch praised “You Don’t Know Me,” one of Manos’ follow-up tracks, as ‘truly breathtaking.”
